The PR team at Hyundai Motor America has asked me to join the conversation on the company’s blog site. Some of the main topics you will hear about from me include quality initiatives, manufacturing process improvements, profiles on HMMA team members who assemble the popular Sonata and Elantra sedans and more, not to mention photos and videos to help you visualize the amazing coordination that takes place to efficiently assemble high quality Hyundai vehicles.
For example, J.D. Power and Associates’ 2013 Vehicle Dependability Study results were released on February 13, 2013. When team members were told the 2010 model year Sonata earned the top spot in the mid-size car segment, the cheers around our Alabama plant were louder than any Alabama Crimson Tide football game. This award serves as a testament to the continued dedication of our team members on continuous improvement in quality and dependability.
Phil Pincus, vice president – automotive consulting group, J.D. Power and Associates made a special trip to HMMA to present the coveted award to President Gui Il Chun and the entire team.
“This is a very significant achievement. It reflects all the incredibly hard work that has taken place at HMMA as well as other Hyundai organizations globally,” said Pincus. “Here at HMMA, we know a tremendous amount of pride and professionalism goes into the assembly process every day and we congratulate you for the terrific results in 2013 vehicle dependability study.”
Winning this award was a team effort by outstanding engineers, superior manufacturing and an amazing collaboration between Hyundai Motor Company, HATCI, North American Quality Center, Hyundai Motor America as well as all of our partnering suppliers.
HMMA has been building the Sonata since 2005 for the North American market.
I look forward to offering you a point of view seldom seen in the automotive industry.
